A Word About Us

I gave my life to the Lord in my early 20s in 1996. I became very passionate about studying His Word. As the years went by I became more and more frustrated in my walk with the Lord as I was not seeing the power of the cross and promises of the Bible manifested in my life and in the lives of most believers around me the way I was seeing it in the Bible.

I knew the problem was not the Word of God but on my side; so I went to Charis Bible College where I learned so much about the Word of God and I also received ministerial training. After 3 years of Bible College, I graduated in Leadership & Business School. I was determined not to settle for less than what God purposed for me and to learn to take Him at His Word. My journey was an interesting one; painful at times, but not boring at all!! I have learned so much and am still learning but there was no way I could keep all that The Holy Spirit was revealing to me through God’s Word to myself.

The Lord has blessed me with a passion to study His Word and a devotion to share the message with others in order to equip His people with the knowledge and understanding of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I started giving Bible studies informally in small groups for years. When I met my husband, Dexter, he encouraged me to start doing it formally. We initially started as small groups in people’s homes in January 2013. As the groups started growing, we decided to have a venue where all groups will meet together. By 2016, we formally established Charis Manna Mistry and we have been growing ever since, branching out in more ministries than just Bible studies.

Our goal is to formally and systematically train believers in the Word of God in order to help them to grow to their full potential and be prepared to serve in their respective callings in the Kingdom of God.

If someone were to ask me what religion I was as a child and growing up I would always say, “Erm…I’m a Christian, I guess” but in terms of knowing who God was or what He was about, I had no idea and to be honest I was good not knowing.

I was a kind person and always tried my best to help people and do good. I thought that if there were a God, I would be okay because I’m a good person. So, I lived my life doing just that, being good; unbeknownst to me God was calling me. That might sound weird and creepy but when I say that, I mean that I suddenly started to ask questions about God, is He even real and if so, why is the world the way it is?!?

I spoke to different people and friends from different faiths and denominations but no one seemed to be able to answer all my tricky, prepared questions. Then one day there was a knock on the door and Christians were asking residents if they wanted bible studies, for me it was a big NO! But my housemate said yes!! So, I got roped into a bible study the following week!

I was present there because where else was I meant to go? It was my house! But as they started reading prophecy in Daniel chapter 2, my ears started to hear things that were undeniable to me and just like that everything made sense! There had to be a God, this Bible that I was holding in my hands was written thousands of years ago but it was able to correctly predict world history, and looking through history books they aligned with what the Bible wrote years ago. Wow!! There had to be a God that wrote this!

Before I accepted anything I was prepared with my questions that always caught other people out, so I fired them at the unsuspecting Christians and their reply was to give me scripture to look at. I looked and my question was answered, how could I argue? It was there right in front of me in black and white. After that, I wanted to know more so I asked them to come back the following week, that was where my love for the word of God began. Since then, I have continued to love Bible study and learning more about God, the Word and about me!

I started attending that church and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and was baptised. From there I was put into a prayer group with Tiane and it was apparent from our late-night/early-morning Bible studies that we both loved the Word of God. Without even realising it, we would sit there for hours and then realise it was the early hours of the morning!!!

I have always attended Bible study at CMM until I moved away for a while but my longing for studying the Word remained. COVID-19 happened and with it came remote learning with online Bible study! I was able to join again even from a distance.
I attended every week and felt myself growing spiritually and thanked God for CMM, I began supporting with stand-alone Bible studies, prayer meetings and meetings for our young people as my professional career of 15+ years has been working with young people in a vast variety of roles. I have a passion for prayer, Bible study and supporting the young people within my church and CMM.

I grew up in a Christian family but only gave my life to God in my mid-teens as I began to understand the Word of God more through Charis Manna Ministries and Charis Bible Studies. These ministries made the Word of God simple and allowed me to ask questions for deeper understanding, which helped me grow as a believer.

For a long time, I didn’t know how I could be of any value in the Kingdom of God. I am not a teacher, musician, or preacher. However, once I understood how God sees me and how the skills that He has blessed me with can be used to spread the Word, I felt confident in myself and volunteered to work as the administrator of the ministry.

I enjoy using my skills to reach those who know God and those who want to know Him. Knowing that any skills you have can be used in the Kingdom of God is comforting. This is why I am happy to use my gift for working well on computers and online platforms to spread the gospel.

Charis Manna Ministry is a safe environment where you can feel comfortable learning and putting what you learned into practice. The ministry is around caring and stern Christians who want you to grow as well!
